The British Fire Consortium attended the show and Firex North was the site of one of the UK fire industry’s newest and potentially most lucrative business partnerships. The British Fire Consortium (BFC) formed a strategic partnership with industry recruitment specialists Fire and Security Jobs. As a new corporate member, the company will offer BFC members special terms on recruitment work carried out.

June 2008 - Major council contract for British Fire Consortium member

BFC member, Safelincs Ltd, has won a major contract with Kirklees Council to supply up to 100,000 carbon monoxide alarms over the next three years. The deal forms part of the Kirklees’ warm zone initiative that includes offering cavity wall and loft installation and low energy light bulbs free of charge to all households in the region. On top of this households can request a free carbon monoxide alarm.

February 2008 - Bullet train depot armed against fire thanks to EJP Fire Protection

British Fire Consortium member, EJP Fire Protection, has supplied a range of portable fire extinguishers to Hitachi’s new world class train maintenance facility in Ashford, home to the famous Hitachi ‘Bullet Trains’ which are set to run on the high speed link between St. Pancras, Ashford and into the Olympic village from 2009.

January 2008 - BFC sets up manufacturers group

A sub group of the British Fire Consortium, the fire industry’s largest trade association, has been established. The new ‘BFC Manufacturers Group’ comprises representatives from companies which assemble, manufacture and distribute products such as portable fire extinguishers, fire blankets and signage.

31st October 2007 - Milestone Birthday for British Fire Consortium

The British Fire Consortium, the industry’s largest trade association, celebrated its 25th birthday this month with a formal dinner and dance in Cardiff, which followed the Association’s 2007 AGM. Members also used the occasion to bid farewell to outgoing Chairman and founder member, Pat Pearl, who is moving to New Zealand, and to welcome his successor, Colin Rhodes.

September 2007 - BFC joins BAFE Council

The British Fire Consortium, the largest trade association in the fire industry with more than 250 members, is the latest organisation to join the BAFE Council. The aim of BAFE is to promote third party certification in fire safety and its council comprises representatives from certification bodies, end users, manufacturers, installers and regulators to ensure a balanced and truly representative approach to promoting quality in fire safety.

British Fire Consortium (BFC) member company, North Staffs Fire Extinguisher Maintenance Service, has reason to celebrate! Technician, Julie Stanway, who has worked for the company for six years, has just scored 100% in the BFC’s practical Extinguisher Technician examination.

BFC Acknowledges Graham Newman

The British Fire Consortium, which is the largest trade association for fire related companies in the UK, has appointed Graham Newman as its President. This is only the second time in the Consortium’s history that such an appointment has been made and followed a vote by BFC members to acknowledge Graham’s achievements and efforts for the Consortium and the fire industry in general over the last 20 years.
